201 Rugged Prisms to be installed on the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm project

Two Norwegian companies, Statoil and Statkraft, acquired the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm project in October 2012. In August 2014, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, Masdar, invested into the company. Statoil and Statkraft together with Masdar, are now working in partnership to develop the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm of which Statoil will be the Operator for both the construction and operational phases. Smulders are contracted for the manufacture of the mast towers and associated steelwork.

Ray Moore worked with Smulders to identify the best target solution and we were successful in being awarded an order for 201 Rugged Prisms for the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm project. Each wind turbine will utilise three Rugged Prisms to support vessels constructing and supporting this project.

Dudgeon will be sited 20 miles off the coast of Cromer in North Norfolk. The wind farm will be completed at the end of 2017 and feature 67 turbines. The end result could mean 284,719 homes can be powered annually and a reduction in CO2 of 575,416 tonnes per year from the renewable energy that these 67 wind turbines can produce.
