Guidance Marine employee completes Ben Nevis Midnight Challenge

June News

Andrew Dunkley completed the Ben Nevis Midnight Challenge after a gruelling 8 and a half hours of walking, starting at 10:30pm on Saturday 20th June, in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

There were 112 people taking part in the challenge on the night. Andrew had set himself a personal fund raising target of £300 which he doubled to £600 after Guidance Marine matched his total donation amount. The group as a whole raised £75,000. The weather was grim, rain and sleet after the half way point stayed with them for the rest of the walk. There was 6 feet of snow laying on the summit (something unusual for this time of year) and the temperature was around freezing point.

Andrew climbed 1343 metres in 8 and a half hours, during which time he was deprived of sleep for 40 hours. Guidance Marine is committed to supporting worthwhile causes and are pleased with Andrew's efforts.
